Hover 200mg Tablet is an oral third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It contains the active ingredient Cefpodoxime Proxetil, which is effective against bacteria responsible for infections of the respiratory tract, ears, throat, urinary tract, and skin. By inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, Hover 200mg Tablet stops bacterial growth and helps eliminate infection, gives bactericidal action. It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, otitis media, and urinary tract infections.

Hover 200mg Tablet is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic work for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. It is widely used when reliable, broad-spectrum antibacterial coverage is required.

Cefpodoxime Proxetil is a prodrug that converts into its active form Cefpodoxime, after absorption. Cefpodoxime binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) in bacterial cell walls, disrupting cell wall synthesis during bacterial growth and division. This leads to weakening of the bacterial cell wall, resulting in bacterial lysis and death (bactericidal action).

Hover 200mg Tablet is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, tonsillitis, and otitis media, as well as urinary tract infections and skin and soft tissue infections caused by organisms like Streptococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, E. coli, and Moraxella catarrhalis.

This medicine is usually taken twice daily for 5–14 days depending on the type and severity of infection. It should be taken with food to improve absorption. Completing the full course is essential to prevent antibiotic resistance and ensure complete recovery.

Respiratory Tract Infections:

It kills bacteria which produces Tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, and community-acquired pneumonia.

Ear Infections:

It is used to treat Acute otitis media( inflammation of ear) especially in children.

Urinary Tract Infections:

Uncomplicated cystitis and other UTIs.

Skin and Soft Tissue Infections:

It is used for Cellulitis, infected wounds caused by susceptible bacteria.

Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic:

• History of Colitis: Increased risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea

The usual recommended dose of Hover 200mg Tablet for adults is one tablet twice daily, taken orally with or without food, or as directed by a healthcare professional.

• Adults: 200 mg twice daily
• Children: As prescribed based on body weight
• Duration: 5–14 days depending on infection

Taking more than the recommended dose of Hover 200mg Tablet can increase the risk of serious side effects. Cefpodoxime overdose may cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhoea, seizures.

In the event of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Do not attempt to treat an overdose at home. Medical professionals may provide supportive care, monitor vital signs, and perform blood tests depending on the symptoms.

Take as soon as remembered. If close to the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.
