How it works

Anogyl-F Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Furazolidone, Metronidazole and Simethicone. Furazolidone is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria that cause diarrhoea by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering. Metronidazole is also an antibiotic which kills other infectious microorganisms in addition to bacteria by damaging their DNA. Together, they treat your infection effectively. Simethicone is an antifoaming medicine which disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.

You have been prescribed Anogyl-F Tablet for the treatment of diarrhea. Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids especially ORS (oral rehydration solution) to help keep you hydrated. Do not drink alcohol while taking and till 4 days after taking this medication. This is because drinking alcohol with Anogyl-F Tablet is likely to make you feel very sick (nauseated) and cause other unpleasant effects, such as hot flushes, headaches, and palpitations (fast heartbeat). Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.
