In Glaucoma : Diamox ER 500 Capsule belongs to a group of medicines called carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. It helps reduce pressure in your eyes that can lead to an illness called glaucoma. If the pressure in your eye is too high, it can damage your sight. Take it regularly as prescribed by your doctor. If you stop taking it, the pressure in your eye will not be controlled. This could lead to a loss of sight.
How to use Diamox Capsule ERFollow your doctor's guidance regarding the dose and duration of this medication. Ingest it without breaking or crushing. Do not chew, crush or break it. Diamox ER 500 Capsule can be taken it with or without food, although it's advisable to take it consistently at the same time.
How Diamox Capsule ER works Diamox ER 500 Capsule is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It works in glaucoma by decreasing the production of aqueous humour (fluid in the eye), thereby lowering the increased eye pressure.
Consult your Doctor: Please consult your doctor regarding the safety of consuming alcohol with Diamox ER 500 Capsule . Experts have not found evidence of alcohol impairing the effectiveness of the medicine.
Diamox ER 500 Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Doctor consultation is advised.
Diamox ER 500 Capsule is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.Doses of up to 1000 mg daily produce low levels in milk and would not be expected to cause any harmful effects in breastfed babies.
