Uses

Ambroxol, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Menthol are used in the treatment of cough.

How it Works

How Ambroxol, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Menthol work: Ambroxol, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Menthol is a combination of five medicines. Ambroxol is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that alleviates cough by reducing the activity of the cough center in the brain. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that narrows small blood vessels, providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antihistamine that relieves symptoms such as a runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Menthol produces a sensation of coolness and alleviates minor throat irritation.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Ambroxol, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Menthol include headache, nausea, vomiting, sedation, double vision, diarrhea, dry mouth, nervousness, decreased appetite, heartburn, dizziness, weakness, discomfort during urination, polyuria, urinary retention, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats), breathing difficulties, increased heart rate, high blood pressure, hallucinations, tremors, pale skin, and convulsions.

  • Ambroxol + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide + Phenylephrine + Chlorpheniramine Maleate + Menthol is prescribed to relieve cough.
  • Drink warm water to help loosen congestion and lubricate your throat while taking this medication.
  • Take exactly as directed by your doctor or as indicated on the label.
  • Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than recommended.
  • Use a proper measuring cup or spoon to measure the dosage accurately.
  • If you experience drowsiness after taking this medication, do not drive or operate machinery.
  • In general, most coughs do not last more than 2 weeks; if your cough persists longer, it is advisable to see your doctor.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers or asthma.
  • Notify your doctor if you are taking any other medications, such as anti-depressants.
  • Ambroxol + Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide + Phenylephrine + Chlorpheniramine Maleate + Menthol should not be administered to children.
