Citoshant 40mg Tablet is a type of antidepressant belonging to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) group of medicines. It is prescribed to treat depression, where it helps to make you feel better and prevent new episodes of depression. This medicine is also used to treat panic disorder. Citoshant 40mg Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose and how often you need it will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. Your doctor may start you on a lower dose and increase it gradually. Do not change the dose or stop taking it without talking to your doctor, even if you feel well. Doing so may make your condition worse or you may suffer from unpleasant withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, restlessness, palpitations, dizziness, sleep disturbances, etc). To get the most benefit, take this medicine regularly at the same time each day. Your doctor may advise you to take it in the morning if you have trouble sleeping. It may take a few weeks before you start feeling better. Let your doctor know if you do not see any improvement even after 4 weeks. Some common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dry mouth, increased sweating, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), decreased sexual drive, delayed ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction. Some people may experience sleepiness after taking this medicine. Let your doctor know straight away if you develop any sudden worsening of mood or any thoughts about harming yourself. Before taking Citoshant 40mg Tablet, you should tell your doctor if you have epilepsy (seizure disorder or fits), diabetes, liver or kidney disease, any heart problems, or are currently taking medicines for depression known as MAO inhibitors. It has fewer side effects than older antidepressants. It usually takes 4-6 weeks for this medicine to work so you need to keep taking it even if you feel it is not working. Do not stop taking it, even if you feel better unless your doctor advises you to. In Panic disorder Citoshant 40mg Tablet can help relieve symptoms of many panic disorders including panic attacks. It can help you feel calmer and improve your ability to deal with problems. Do not stop taking it, even when you feel better, unless your doctor advises you to.
The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Alcohol

Pregnancy

Driving
Not Safe: Citoshant 40mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
Caution Advised: Citoshant 40mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Citoshant 40mg Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Limited information is available on the use of Citoshant 40mg Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.
Liver
Caution Advised: Citoshant 40mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Citoshant 40mg Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.
If a dose of Citoshant 40mg Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C
It can take up to 8 to 12 weeks to see the medicine full effects on your mood. Take it with food to avoid stomach upset. It causes less drowsiness as compared to other antidepressant medications. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how Citoshant 40mg Tablet affects you. Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts.
