Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s is a prescription medicine used to improve movement control in Parkinson’s disease and certain medication-related movement disorders. It works by boosting dopamine in the brain and reducing overactive glutamate signals, helping to decrease stiffness, tremors, slowed movement, and involuntary jerky motions. While it was originally developed as an antiviral, it is now mainly used to manage neurological symptoms and improve daily functioning.
Long Description of Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s
Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s is a prescription medicine used to help manage movement issues in Parkinson’s disease and certain medication-induced movement disorders. Parkinson’s disease occurs when the brain produces less dopamine, a chemical that controls smooth, coordinated muscle movement. Low dopamine levels can cause stiffness, tremors (shaking), slowed movement, and balance difficulties.
Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s works in two ways to improve these symptoms. First, it increases dopamine in the brain and slows its breakdown, helping the brain maintain better control over muscle movements. Second, it reduces overactive glutamate signals by blocking NMDA receptors, which can contribute to involuntary, jerky movements known as dyskinesia, often seen with long-term Parkinson’s treatment. By acting on both dopamine and glutamate systems, Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s provides broader symptom control than medicines that target only dopamine.
It can be prescribed alone in early Parkinson’s disease or alongside other medications like levodopa in later stages. It is also effective in treating movement side effects caused by antipsychotic drugs. The medicine is taken by mouth, absorbed into the bloodstream, and eliminated mainly through the kidneys, so patients with kidney problems may require adjusted doses.
While Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s was originally developed as an antiviral for Influenza A, it is now primarily used for its neurological benefits. It is important to understand that Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s does not cure Parkinson’s disease or stop its progression. However, when taken as prescribed and monitored by a healthcare professional, it can significantly reduce symptoms, improve mobility, and enhance overall quality of life.
Treatment of idiopathic Parkinson’s symptoms such as tremors, rigidity, and slow movement.
Management of involuntary movements in patients undergoing long-term Parkinson's therapy.
Control of movement disorders caused by antipsychotic medications or other dopamine-blocking agents.
Prevention or symptomatic relief of respiratory infections caused by Influenza A strains.
Helps reduce tremors, stiffness, and slowness of movement, allowing smoother and more coordinated muscle activity.
One of the few medications shown to reduce levodopa-induced dyskinesia (involuntary, jerky movements) in Parkinson’s disease.
Enhances the effectiveness of levodopa and other Parkinson’s medications, helping reduce “off” periods when symptoms return between doses.
Can be used alone in early Parkinson’s disease to provide mild to moderate symptom improvement.
Effectively reduces extrapyramidal symptoms such as rigidity, tremor, and restlessness caused by antipsychotic medications.
Works by increasing dopamine availability and blocking NMDA receptors, offering broader symptom control compared to dopamine-only therapies.
Supports better mobility, daily functioning, and overall quality of life when used as prescribed.
Like all medicines, Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s may cause side effects. The risk may be higher in older adults and in people with kidney problems, as the medicine is removed from the body through the kidneys.
These are usually mild and may improve as the body adjusts to the medicine:
Seek urgent medical care if any of the following occur:
Am Dine 100mg Tablet 10s should be taken exactly as prescribed by your physician. For the management of Parkinson's disease, it is typically administered once or twice daily. To minimize the risk of insomnia, it is highly recommended to take the second dose in the early afternoon (before 4:00 PM) rather than at bedtime. The medication can be taken with or without food; however, taking it with a meal can help mitigate nausea. Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with a full glass of water. It is critical not to discontinue this medication abruptly without medical supervision.
Alcohol can severely increase central nervous system side effects such as confusion, dizziness, and fainting.
This medication may cause fetal harm and is generally not recommended during pregnancy.
Amantadine passes into breast milk and may reduce milk supply or cause unwanted effects in the nursing infant.
This medicine may cause blurred vision and dizziness; avoid driving until you are sure of your reaction to the drug.
Use with caution in patients with pre-existing hepatic impairment.
Amantadine is cleared by the kidneys; dose adjustments are essential for those with renal disease to avoid toxicity.
Can be taken with or without food.
Do not stop taking this medication suddenly, as it can trigger life-threatening muscle rigidity and fever.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once to compensate for a missed one. If you miss several doses, contact your doctor immediately, as your symptoms may worsen rapidly.
