How Ketoconazole and Zinc Pyrithione Work Ketoconazole and Zinc pyrithione is a combination of two antifungal medications. It works by disrupting the cell membrane of fungi that cause dandruff.

Ketoconazole + Zinc pyrithione must be applied to the affected area as prescribed by your doctor.
Do not use this medicine more frequently or for a longer duration than advised by your doctor.
Before each application, wash the affected area with soap and water, and dry thoroughly.
Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, or nose.
If accidental contact occurs, rinse the area with cold water.
Discontinue use of Ketoconazole + Zinc pyrithione and inform your doctor if you experience any irritation or other skin infections.
Notify your doctor if the treated skin area does not show improvement after 2-4 weeks of treatment.
