How Ketoconazole and Salicylic Acid Work Ketoconazole and Salicylic Acid is a combination of two medications that treat dandruff. Ketoconazole is an antifungal that works by inhibiting the growth of dandruff-causing fungi, preventing them from forming their protective covering. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic agent that helps break down the skin clumps on the scalp and alleviates itching and flaking associated with dandruff.

Expert Advice

  • Ketoconazole + Salicylic Acid must be applied to the affected area as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Do not use this medicine more often or for a longer duration than advised by your doctor.
  • Before each application, wash the affected area with soap and water, then dry thoroughly.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, or nose.
  • If accidental contact occurs, rinse with cold water immediately.
  • Stop using Ketoconazole + Salicylic Acid and inform your doctor if you notice any irritation or any other skin infection.
  • Inform your doctor if the treated skin area does not improve after 2-4 weeks of treatment.
