In Epilepsy Valrate CR 300 Tablet slows down electrical signals in the brain which cause seizures (fits). It can also help reduce symptoms such as confusion, uncontrollable jerking movements, loss of awareness, and fear or anxiety. The medicine can allow you to do some activities that you would otherwise be forbidden or scared to do (such as swimming and driving). It can take a few weeks for this medicine to work (because the dose has to be increased slowly) and during this time you may still have seizures. Do not stop using this medicine even if you feel well, until your doctor advises you to. Missing doses may trigger a seizure.

How it works
Valrate CR 300 Tablet is a combination of two antiepileptic medicines: Sodium Valproate and Valproic Acid. They work together to control seizures or fits by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Valrate CR 300 Tablet as it is deemed unsafe.
Seek medical advice from your doctor: Valrate CR 300 Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Doctor consultation is advised.
Safe when prescribed by an expert: Valrate CR 300 Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Not Safe: Valrate CR 300 Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Safe when prescribed by an expert: Valrate CR 300 Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Valrate CR 300 Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Doctor consultation is advised. However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Caution Advised: Valrate CR 300 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Valrate CR 300 Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Valrate CR 300 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
What if I forget to take it?
If a dose of Valrate CR 300 Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
