Hypertension (high blood pressure)

In Hypertension (high blood pressure) Olmet-M50 Tablet ER is a combination medicine that contains two active ingredients, Amlodipine and Metoprolol Succinate. Both of the medicines in this combination work to lower blood pressure but in different ways. Together they help to relax blood vessels, reduce heart rate and make it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body. This lowers blood pressure. If your blood pressure is controlled you are less at risk of having a heart attack, stroke or kidney problems. The medicine must be taken regularly as prescribed to be effective. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. You should also make appropriate lifestyle changes (such as eating healthy and staying active) to maximize the effectiveness of this medicine.

The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Olmet-M50 Tablet ER is a combination of two blood-pressure lowering medicines: Olmesartan Medoxomil and Metoprolol Succinate. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels. Metoprolol Succinate is a beta blocker which works specifically on the heart to reduce heart rate and lower blood pressure. Together they allow the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.

Alcohol

Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Olmet-M50 Tablet ER as it is deemed unsafe.

Pregnancy

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Olmet-M50 Tablet ER is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Doctor consultation is advised.

Breast feeding

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Olmet-M50 Tablet ER is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving

Not Safe: Olmet-M50 Tablet ER may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

Caution Advised: Olmet-M50 Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Olmet-M50 Tablet ER may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is advisable for dose adjustment.

Liver

Caution Advised: Olmet-M50 Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Olmet-M50 Tablet ER may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.

If a dose of Olmet-M50 Tablet ER is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

You have been prescribed Olmet-M50 Tablet ER for the treatment of high blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces chance of future heart attack & strokes. It may cause dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor as it can cause sudden increase in your blood pressure.
