How Nitus Tablet works Nitus Tablet is a combination of four medicines: Phenylephrine, Nimesulide, Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Caffeine. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing temporary relief from stuffiness in the nose. Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Caffeine is stimulant which prevents sleepiness caused by chlorpheniramine.
Alcohol
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Nitus Tablet.
Pregnancy
Nitus Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Doctor consultation is advised.
Breast feeding
Nitus Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Driving
Nitus Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
Nitus Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Nitus Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Doctor consultation is advised.Use of Nitus Tablet may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.
Liver
Nitus Tablet is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Doctor consultation is advised.
If you miss a dose of Nitus Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C
Nitus Tablet is prescribed to get relief from symptoms of common cold. Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended. Call your doctor if your symptoms have not improved within seven days of treatment. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications for cold.
