Celrab It Capsule is an advanced combination gastrointestinal medication containing of Itopride and Rabeprazole. This dual-action therapy is designed to treat complex digestive conditions such as functional dyspepsia and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). By combining a prokinetic agent (Itopride) with a fast-acting proton pump inhibitor (Rabeprazole), it simultaneously improves the movement of food through the stomach and reduces the production of stomach acid. This provides comprehensive relief from symptoms like persistent heartburn, acid regurgitation, bloating, and the uncomfortable sensation of being full for too long after a meal.
Celrab It Capsule is an oral fixed-dose combination that addresses both the acidity and the motility (movement) of the digestive tract. This formulation is particularly effective for patients whose symptoms are caused by both excess acid and a "slow" stomach.
Composition and Mechanism: Each tablet or capsule contains Itopride Hydrochloride and Rabeprazole Sodium. Itopride works by increasing the levels of acetylcholine, the chemical responsible for triggering muscle contractions in the gut. This helps the stomach empty food into the intestines more quickly. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that works by blocking the acid-secreting enzymes in the stomach wall. Rabeprazole is known for its rapid onset of action, often providing acid suppression within the first day of treatment.
Major Therapeutic Uses: Celrab It Capsule is primarily indicated for the treatment of GERD that involves "backwash" of food or acid into the oesophagus. It is also widely used for functional dyspepsia, where patients experience upper abdominal pain and bloating without having an ulcer. Because Itopride helps move food forward and Rabeprazole stops the burn, it is an ideal choice for patients who experience "nocturnal acid breakthrough" or morning acid reflux. It is also used to promote the healing of the oesophageal lining in patients with erosive oesophagitis.
Benefits and Precautions: The primary benefit of this combination is the rapid and synergistic relief of symptoms. Rabeprazole provides one of the fastest acid-blocking effects in its class, while the dose of Itopride ensures that the stomach does not remain heavy or distended. However, precautions are necessary for patients with severe liver or kidney issues. Long-term use of Rabeprazole may be associated with a reduced absorption of certain minerals, and Itopride should be avoided by patients with gastrointestinal haemorrhages or mechanical obstructions where increased movement could be dangerous.
Medical Supervision and Risks: Treatment must be monitored by a healthcare professional. Major risks associated with long-term acid suppression include an increased risk of bone fractures and a higher likelihood of stomach infections. While Itopride is generally well-tolerated, it should be used with caution in elderly patients as it may rarely affect prolactin levels. It is also important to monitor for Vitamin B12 deficiency during long-term therapy, as stomach acid is necessary for the body to absorb this vitamin from food.
Celrab It Capsule (Itopride + Rabeprazole) is indicated for:
Managing acid reflux and heartburn.
Treating bloating, early fullness, and stomach discomfort.
Relieving pain in the upper abdomen not caused by ulcers.
Treating the "silent reflux" that affects the throat and voice.
Celrab It Capsule offers a "dual-target" approach to gastrointestinal health. Its primary medicinal benefit is the correction of gastric "stasis"—the condition where food sits in the stomach too long. Ensuring that the stomach muscles contract effectively prevents the upward pressure that forces acid into the esophagus, treating the mechanical cause of reflux alongside the chemical one.
One of the significant advantages of the combination is the speed of the Rabeprazole component. Rabeprazole becomes active across a wide range of stomach pH levels, meaning it starts working faster than many other similar drugs. When combined with the of Itopride, patients often report a significant "lightness" in their stomach and a reduction in nausea shortly after starting the medication.
Furthermore, Celrab It Capsule is highly effective at improving the quality of sleep for reflux sufferers. By speeding up gastric emptying in the evening, there is less volume in the stomach to reflux when the patient lies down. This reduces the frequency of waking up with a bitter taste or a burning throat. The combination is also designed to be convenient; by putting both essential treatments into one pill, it ensures that the patient receives the correct balance of motility support and acid protection every single day.
May cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive until you know how the drug affects you.
Use only if essential. Consult your doctor for safer alternatives during pregnancy.
Alcohol increases stomach acid and can worsen the symptoms of GERD.
MUST be taken on an empty stomach to ensure proper absorption.
Long-term users should consider calcium and vitamin D supplements.
Store Celrab It Capsule at room temperature (below 30°C). Keep the tablets in their original moisture-resistant blister pack and protect them from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
Rabeprazole reduces the amount of acid needed to absorb this antifungal.
Acid blockers significantly reduce the levels of this HIV medication.
Drugs like Atropine can stop Itopride from moving the stomach muscles.
Rabeprazole can increase levels of this drug in the blood.
The dosage is determined by a physician based on your clinical condition. Most patients are prescribed one tablet or capsule once daily, taken 30 minutes before breakfast. In some cases of severe dyspepsia, a doctor may adjust the timing or frequency.
Because this contains 150mg of Itopride, it is designed to provide powerful motility support throughout the day. Do not take this medication for longer than 8 weeks without a medical review. Regular follow-ups are necessary to ensure the acid suppression is not masking other underlying issues.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember if it is still before a meal. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not take two tablets at once to catch up, as this may increase the risk ofdiarrhoeaa and dizziness.
