Hypertension (high blood pressure)

In Hypertension (high blood pressure) BP-Loride Tablet relaxes the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. It also eliminates excess water from the body and increases urine output. This lowers your blood pressure and reduces your risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney problems in the future. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. You should take it regularly as prescribed for this medicine to be most effective, even if you feel better.

The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Doctor consultation is advised if they persist or if you're worried about them. Follow your doctor's guidance regarding the dose and duration of this medication. Ingest it without breaking or crushing. Do not chew, crush or break it. BP-Loride Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

BP-Loride Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Atenolol, amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide. They work by different mechanisms to provide better control of blood pressure when single or dual therapy is not effective. Atenolol is a beta blocker that works by slowing down the heart rate. Amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide are diuretics which remove extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. Over time, hydrochlorothiazide also relaxes blood vessels but causes potassium loss. Amiloride is added as it conserves potassium thereby balancing its levels in the body.

Alcohol

Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with BP-Loride Tablet as it is deemed unsafe.

Pregnancy

Seek medical advice from your doctor: BP-Loride Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Doctor consultation is advised.

Breast feeding

Seek medical advice from your doctor: BP-Loride Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving

Not Safe: BP-Loride Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

Caution Advised: BP-Loride Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of BP-Loride Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of BP-Loride Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

Liver

Caution Advised: BP-Loride Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of BP-Loride Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.

If a dose of BP-Loride Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

Take it in the morning on an empty stomach to avoid getting up at night to urinate. It can make you feel dizzy for the first few days. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how BP-Loride Tablet affects you. It may increase the level of potassium in your blood. Avoid taking potassium supplements and potassium-rich foods such as banana and broccoli. It can hide symptoms of low blood sugar if you are diabetic. Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly. Monitor your blood pressure after starting BP-Loride Tablet and notify your doctor if it does not lower down.
