Uses
Dicyclomine is used in the treatment of abdominal pain and irritable bowel syndrome.
How it Works
How Dicyclomine works Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic medication that relaxes the muscles in the stomach and intestines. It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms), thereby relieving cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Dicyclomine include nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, dryness of the mouth, nervousness, drowsiness, vomiting, psychosis, diarrhea, photophobia, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), confusion, hallucinations, dry skin, and reduced bronchial secretions.

- Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it.
- It may cause dizziness or drowsiness; use caution while driving or performing tasks that require concentration.
- Dry mouth may occur as a side effect; frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake, and sugarless candy may help alleviate this.
- It may reduce sweating; avoid activities that may lead to overheating, such as exercise.
- Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Dicyclomine, as it can lead to excessive drowsiness and increase the risk of stomach problems.
- Inform your doctor if you experience severe or prolonged pain in your stomach.
