Cilnidipine and Metoprolol Succinate are used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).

How it Works

How Cilnidipine and Metoprolol Succinate Work Cilnidipine and Metoprolol Succinate is a combination of two medications: Cilnidipine and Metoprolol, which effectively lower blood pressure. Cilnidipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, while Metoprolol is a beta blocker that specifically affects the heart to slow down the heart rate. Together, they enhance the heart's efficiency in pumping blood throughout the body.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Cilnidipine and Metoprolol Succinate include abnormal phosphorus levels in the blood, nausea, edema (swelling), vomiting, abdominal pain, increased aspartate aminotransferase, increased alanine aminotransferase, increased lactate dehydrogenase levels in the blood, increased creatinine levels in the blood, increased blood urea nitrogen, protein in urine, rash, abnormal white blood cell counts, abnormal hemoglobin levels, general discomfort, hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), abnormal creatine phosphokinase levels, abnormal uric acid levels, and abnormal potassium levels in the blood.

  • Lowering blood pressure reduces the chance of future heart attacks and strokes.
  • This medication may cause dizziness; therefore, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
  • Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it can lead to a sudden increase in your blood pressure.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
