Dry cough

In Dry cough A dry cough is a cough where no phlegm or mucus is produced. It may cause a tickling sensation or itching in the throat and may be due to cold, flu, allergies or throat irritants. Tuxiril LS Syrup suppresses severe dry cough and gives you relief from an itchy throat. Apart from this, it also reduces symptoms of allergy like watery eyes, sneezing and runny nose. Along with taking Tuxiril LS Syrup, gargling with warm salt water and having ginger or honey can help you manage dry cough.

The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Tuxiril LS Syrup is a combination of four medicines: Guaifenesin, bromhexine, chlorpheniramine and dextromethorphan which relieve dry cough. Guaifenesin is an expectorant which decreases the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways. Bromhexine is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain.

Alcohol

Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Tuxiril LS Syrup as it is deemed unsafe.

Pregnancy

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Tuxiril LS Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Doctor consultation is advised.

Breast feeding

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Information regarding the use of Tuxiril LS Syrup during breastfeeding is not available. Doctor consultation is advised.

Driving

Not Safe: Tuxiril LS Syrup may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.

Kidney

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Tuxiril LS Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Tuxiril LS Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Doctor consultation is advised.

Liver

Not Safe: Tuxiril LS Syrup is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Doctor consultation is advised.

If a dose of Tuxiril LS Syrup is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

Tuxiril LS Syrup is prescribed to get relief from a dry cough. Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended. Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications, e.g., anti-depressants. Consult your doctor if you do not see any improvement and have cough for more than 7 days. Inform your doctor if you have had a cough for a long time or if you have asthma or suffer from serious asthma attacks, or if your cough is accompanied by a fever, rash, or persistent headache.
