If you can control the level, you will reduce the risk of getting any of the serious complications of diabetes such as kidney damage, eye damage, nerve problems and loss of limbs. This medicine will reduce the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease if you have type 2 diabetes and already have cardiovascular disease. Taking this medicine regularly along with proper diet and exercise will help you live a normal, healthy life. You should keep using it for as long as it is prescribed because it is protecting your future health.

This reduces both fasting and postmeal sugar levels. Dapagliflozin works by removing excess sugar (glucose) from your body through urine.

Alcohol

Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet as it is deemed unsafe.

Pregnancy

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Doctor consultation is advised.

Breast feeding

Not Safe: Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.

Driving

SAFE - Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive. However, it may cause dizziness in some people. It may also cause hypoglycemia if used in combination with other antidiabetic medicinal products known to cause hypoglycaemia.

Kidney

Caution Advised: Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.

Liver

Caution Advised: Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.

If a dose of Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it. Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor and anxiety. It may cause your body to lose too much fluid (dehydration) or you may urinate more often. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. It can cause genital fungal and/or urinary tract infections (UTIs) in both females and males, so practice good hygiene. Your doctor will regularly monitor your kidney function before and during the treatment.
