Loister Tablet belongs to a specific class of drugs known as acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors. The dose is the standardised therapeutic strength used to provide consistent prokinetic support for the upper gastrointestinal tract.

• Composition and Mechanism: Each tablet contains of Acotiamide hydrochloride hydrate. Its primary action is to inhibit acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme that degrades acetylcholine at nerve endings in the stomach. By keeping acetylcholine active for longer, it stimulates the muscarinic receptors in the gastric smooth muscle. This dual-action approach improves "gastric accommodation" (the stomach's ability to expand to hold food) and "gastric emptying" (the movement of food into the small intestine).

• Mechanical Obstruction: If the gut is physically blocked, increasing motility can cause severe pain or injury.

• Liver Disease: Requires monitoring of transaminase levels (AST/ALT).

The dosage of Loister Tablet is standardised for the treatment of functional dyspepsia. The standard adult dose is one 300mg tablet taken three times a day.

It must be taken before meals to allow the drug to reach the stomach tissues before food arrives. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a full 200ml glass of water. Your doctor will typically evaluate your progress after 2 weeks; if there is no improvement in symptoms like bloating or fullness, the treatment may be discontinued or adjusted. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, as long as it is before your next meal. If you have already eaten, skip the missed dose. Do not take a double 300mg dose, as this may lead to significant diarrhoea or stomach cramping.
