Diarrhea

In Diarrhea Diarrhea is an increase in the frequency of bowel movements or loose watery bowel movements. It can most commonly occur due to an infection of the digestive tract. Kumagyl Forte Tablet helps to treat diarrhea that is caused due to bacteria or parasitic worm infections. This medicine can relieve frequent loose motions and also help you to stay well by preventing them from coming back. You need to take this medicine regularly to get the most out of it and you should drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

Kumagyl Forte Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Metronidazole, diloxanide and simethicone. Metronidazole is an antibiotic which kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA. Diloxanide is combined with metronidazole in case of severe intestinal infections. Diloxanide is a luminal amoebicide which acts inside the intestines to kill the infection-causing microorganisms (amoeba). Simethicone is an antifoaming medicine which disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.

Alcohol

Unsafe: It is unsafe to consume alcohol while taking Kumagyl Forte Tablet , as it may lead to symptoms such as flushing, increased heart rate, nausea, thirst, chest pain, and low blood pressure, known as a Disulfiram reaction.

Pregnancy

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Kumagyl Forte Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Doctor consultation is advised.

Breast feeding

Driving

Not Safe: Kumagyl Forte Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. Kumagyl Forte Tablet may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused. You may have hallucinations, fits (convulsions) or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision) affecting your ability to drive.

Kidney

Liver

Caution Advised: Kumagyl Forte Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Kumagyl Forte Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.

If a dose of Kumagyl Forte Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

You have been prescribed Kumagyl Forte Tablet for the treatment of diarrhea. Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids especially ORS (oral rehydration solution) to help keep you hydrated. Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea). Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help. Do not drink alcohol while taking and till 4 days after taking this medication. This is because drinking alcohol with Kumagyl Forte Tablet is likely to make you feel very sick (nauseated) and cause other unpleasant effects, such as hot flushes, headaches, and palpitations (fast heartbeat). Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.
