How Gemita Injection works Gemita 1000mg/26.3mg Injection is a combination of two medicines: Gemcitabine and Mannitol. Gemcitabine interferes with the growth of DNA and RNA of the cancer cells by substituting their building blocks. It prevents the cancer cells from growing and multiplying. Mannitol is an inert substance with high osmotic pressure. It draws water into the kidney, which in turn increases the amount of urine production. Mannitol is also used to lower the pressure inside the eye or swelling around the brain.

Alcohol

Not Safe: Consuming alcohol with Gemita 1000mg/26.3mg Injection may lead to excessive drowsiness.

Pregnancy

Gemita 1000mg/26.3mg Injection is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Doctor consultation is advised.

Breast feeding

Before taking Gemita 1000mg/26.3mg Injection, make sure you tell your doctor about any other medications you are taking (including prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins, herbal remedies, etc.). After starting your treatment with this medicine, you may be at risk of infection so try to avoid crowds or people with colds, and report fever or any other signs of infection immediately to your doctor. Drink at least two to three quarts of fluid every 24 hours, unless you are instructed otherwise. To reduce nausea, take anti-nausea medications as prescribed by your doctor, and eat small, frequent meals.
