Furatop Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of diarrhea. It kills diarrhea-causing bacteria. It also manages the symptoms of diarrhea such as stomach pain, cramps, and loose stools. Furatop Tablet is taken with food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you discontinue treatment prematurely, there is a risk of symptom recurrence and worsening of your condition. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine. The most common side effects are nausea, headache, dryness in mouth, metallic taste, constipation, blurred vision, weakness, and nervousness. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. To overcome constipation, you should add fibre-rich foods in your diet and stay hydrated. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. You should also tell your doctor if you have any liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling, and itching.

Side Effects of Furatop Tablet

The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Doctor consultation is advised if they persist or if you're worried about them. How it works

Furatop Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Metronidazole, Dicyclomine and Loperamide which treat diarrhea. Metronidazole is an antibiotic which works by stopping the growth of bacteria and other diarrhea-causing microorganisms. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic which relaxes the muscles in the stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms). By doing this, it relieves cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Loperamide is an opioid agonist which works by decreasing contraction of the intestines making the stools more solid and less frequent.

Unsafe: It is unsafe to consume alcohol while taking Furatop Tablet , as it may lead to symptoms such as flushing, increased heart rate, nausea, thirst, chest pain, and low blood pressure, known as a Disulfiram reaction.

Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. What If You Forget to take Furatop Tablet?

If a dose of Furatop Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Quick Tips for Furatop Tablet

You have been prescribed Furatop Tablet for the treatment of diarrhea. Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids especially ORS (oral rehydration solution) to help keep you hydrated. Do not drink alcohol while taking and till 4 days after taking this medication. This is because drinking alcohol with Furatop Tablet is likely to make you feel very sick (nauseated) and cause other unpleasant effects, such as hot flushes, headaches, and palpitations (fast heartbeat). Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.
