Ar Ezy Duo Nasal Spray 7ml is a prescription nasal spray that combines azelastine, an antihistamine that helps reduce allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and runny nose, with fluticasone furoate, a corticosteroid that decreases nasal inflammation and swelling. This dual‑action therapy may provide faster and more effective relief from seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis compared to using either medicine alone. It is intended for regular use as directed by a healthcare professional to control allergy symptoms and improve nasal airflow.
Ar Ezy Duo Nasal Spray 7ml (Azelastine + Fluticasone Furoate) is a fixed-dose combination nasal spray used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, including seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. It is formulated as a metered-dose intranasal suspension that delivers both an antihistamine and a corticosteroid locally to the nasal passages.
It is used to help relieve symptoms such as nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, and nasal itching. It is generally prescribed when single-agent therapy does not provide adequate symptom control.
Azelastine is an antihistamine that works by blocking histamine H1 receptors in the nasal mucosa, helping reduce allergic symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and rhinorrhea. Fluticasone furoate is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the nasal lining by inhibiting multiple inflammatory mediators, leading to reduced swelling, mucus production, and nasal congestion over time.
The combination provides complementary effects, with azelastine contributing faster symptom relief and fluticasone furoate providing sustained anti-inflammatory control with regular use. Full therapeutic benefit is generally achieved after consistent daily administration.
Ar Ezy Duo Nasal Spray 7ml is intended for intranasal use only. It should be used regularly as prescribed and not as an immediate rescue treatment for sudden severe symptoms. Proper spray technique and adherence to dosing instructions are important for effectiveness.
Systemic absorption of fluticasone furoate is low when used at recommended doses, but caution is advised with prolonged use in patients with risk factors such as ocular disease or when used with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, which may increase steroid exposure. Regular medical review is recommended for long-term therapy.
Ar Ezy Duo Nasal Spray 7ml is typically indicated by a doctor for:
Relief of symptoms such as stuffy/runny nose, itching, and sneezing caused by seasonal allergens like pollen and grasses.
Management of year-round allergy symptoms caused by dust mites, animal dander, or moulds.
Reduction of swelling in the nasal passages to improve airflow and breathing.
Indirectly helping to reduce itchy, watery eyes associated with nasal allergic reactions.
In certain clinical scenarios, to manage non-allergic chronic congestion and nasal sensitivity.
Ar Ezy Duo Nasal Spray 7ml provides benefits such as:
Ar Ezy Duo Nasal Spray 7ml may cause side effects, though not everyone will experience them. Most reactions are mild and temporary, but some may need medical attention.
Ar Ezy Duo Nasal Spray 7ml works through two distinct biological pathways:
Limited data available. Use only if potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus.
It is unknown if nasal application leads to significant excretion in breast milk.
Azelastine may cause somnolence in some users. Ensure alertness before operating machinery.
Fluticasone is metabolised by the liver; severe impairment may increase systemic exposure.
Minimal systemic absorption makes renal complications unlikely.
Alcohol can significantly increase the sedative effects of the azelastine component.
Avoid spraying directly onto the nasal septum (the middle wall) to prevent tissue thinning.
Store the bottle in an upright position at room temperature (between 20°C to 25°C). Do not freeze or refrigerate. Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use and keep it out of the reach of children.
Concomitant use may increase drowsiness or reduce alertness due to Azelastine. Patients should use caution, particularly when starting treatment.
A clinically significant interaction is not expected with intranasal use. Although grapefruit may affect steroid metabolism, the risk of increased systemic exposure to Fluticasone Furoate is low at recommended doses.
Concomitant use with potent inhibitors such as ritonavir or ketoconazole may increase systemic exposure to Fluticasone Furoate. This may increase the risk of systemic corticosteroid effects, including adrenal suppression. Avoid or use under close medical supervision.
Concurrent use with Azelastine and other antihistamines may increase the likelihood of additive effects such as drowsiness.
Use with sedatives, hypnotics, anxiolytics, or opioid medicines may enhance central nervous system depression, including increased drowsiness or reduced alertness.
Concurrent use with other corticosteroid-containing products may increase overall steroid exposure. Monitor for signs of systemic corticosteroid effects, especially with long-term use.
Prolonged use of intranasal corticosteroids such as Fluticasone Furoate may increase intraocular pressure or contribute to cataract formation. Use with monitoring in patients with existing eye conditions.
Use with caution in patients with bacterial, viral, or fungal infections, particularly of the respiratory tract. Corticosteroids may reduce the body’s ability to respond to infection.
Avoid use until healing is complete. Fluticasone Furoate may delay wound healing of the nasal mucosa.
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Azelastine, Fluticasone Furoate, or any component of the formulation.
Overdose with Ar Ezy Duo Nasal Spray 7ml is uncommon when used as a nasal spray as directed. Excess use may increase side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, or nasal irritation. With prolonged overuse, there is a potential risk of increased systemic corticosteroid exposure from fluticasone. If large amounts are used accidentally or if swallowed, medical advice should be sought, particularly in children.
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten one.
