Urea is used in the treatment of excessive skin dryness.

How it Works

How Urea works Urea, a diamide of carbonic acid, functions by dissolving the intercellular matrix (the substance found between cells), resulting in the softening of dry and rough skin.

Side Effects

Common side effects of urea include a burning sensation and a stinging sensation.

Do not use urea in large amounts or for a duration longer than recommended.
Topical formulations of urea should be applied only to the skin.
Do not ingest urea internally.
Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, and mucous membranes.
