Mannitol is used in the treatment of acute renal failure, cerebral edema, and glaucoma.

How it Works

How Mannitol works Mannitol is an inert substance with high osmotic pressure. It draws water into the kidneys, which in turn increases urine production. Mannitol is also used to lower pressure inside the eye and reduce swelling around the brain.
