Zeocold Tablet is a combination medicine used to relieve common cold and flu symptoms. It contains Caffeine, which helps reduce tiredness and improve alertness; Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine that eases allergy symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes; Paracetamol, a pain‑reliever and fever‑reducer; and Phenylephrine, a decongestant that clears nasal blockage and sinus pressure. Together, these ingredients provide relief from headache, body pain, fever, nasal congestion, and allergy‑related discomfort, making it effective for short‑term management of cold and flu.

It contains four active ingredients: Paracetamol, Phenylephrine, Diphenhydramine, and Caffeine. Together, these agents help reduce fever, ease pain, relieve nasal congestion, control allergy‑related symptoms, and improve alertness.

Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic that lowers fever and relieves mild to moderate pain such as headache, sore throat, and muscle aches. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that works by narrowing blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing swelling and congestion. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that helps relieve sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, and itching; it also has sedative properties that may promote rest. Caffeine is a mild stimulant that offsets drowsiness caused by Diphenhydramine and enhances the pain‑relieving effect of Paracetamol.

This medicine is intended for short‑term use. The usual adult dose is one tablet every 6 to 8 hours as needed, not exceeding four tablets in 24 hours. It may be taken with or without food, though taking it after meals can reduce stomach upset.

Serious Side Effects (requires immediate medical attention):

• Signs of liver toxicity (Paracetamol overdose): Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), dark urine, or severe pain in the upper abdomen.
• Severe cardiovascular symptoms (Phenylephrine effects): Severe chest pain, pounding heartbeat, or a sudden, severe headache.
• Signs of a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis): Rash, hives, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, or difficulty breathing.

Patients should adhere strictly to the dosing instructions provided on the package or by a healthcare professional.

• The typical recommended dose for adults and children 12 years and older is 1 to 2 tablets taken orally every 4 to 6 hours.
• The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.
• It is crucial not to exceed the recommended maximum daily dose, as the safety of Paracetamol is highly dependent on appropriate dosing.

• Check All Labels: Always review other cold medicines, pain relievers, and prescription drugs for Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) to avoid accidental overdose.
• Timing is Key: If you find the medication causes mild sleepiness, consider taking your final dose of the day closer to bedtime.
• Limit External Caffeine: Reduce intake of coffee, tea, and energy drinks while taking this medication to prevent excessive nervousness or heart palpitations due to the 30mg of Caffeine per tablet.

• General: Taking the medicine with a meal may slightly delay absorption but can help minimise mild stomach irritation.

The following drug classes may interact with components of Zeocold Tablet:

• Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs): Combining this medicine with MAOIs can cause a dangerous hypertensive crisis (severely high blood pressure) due to the Phenylephrine content. Do not use this medication if you are currently taking MAOIs or have taken them within the last 14 days.
• Sedatives, Tranquillisers, and Opioids: These medications, when taken with Zeocold Tablet, increase the risk of CNS depression, excessive drowsiness, and respiratory complications due to the additive sedative effects of Diphenhydramine.
• Other Sympathomimetics/Decongestants: Concurrent use with other drugs containing decongestants (like Sudafed) can lead to additive side effects such as increased blood pressure, rapid heart rate, and nervousness, primarily due to Phenylephrine.
• Warfarin (Blood Thinners): High doses or prolonged use of the Paracetamol component can potentiate (increase the effect of) Warfarin, raising the risk of bleeding. Close monitoring is advised.
• Anticholinergics: Drugs with anticholinergic effects (like some psychiatric medicines, muscle relaxants) taken with Diphenhydramine can increase side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision, and urinary retention.

Due to the combination of active ingredients, caution is advised in patients with the following conditions:

• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) and Heart Disease: Phenylephrine (decongestant) can raise blood pressure and heart rate.
• Diabetes: Phenylephrine may affect blood sugar levels.
• Glaucoma: Diphenhydramine (antihistamine) may increase intraocular pressure.
• Liver Impairment: Patients with pre-existing liver disease are at a significantly higher risk for Paracetamol toxicity.
• Thyroid Disorders: Patients with hyperthyroidism should use caution due to the stimulating effects of Phenylephrine.
