Vono 20mg Tablet 10s is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) used to reduce stomach acid and manage conditions caused by excess gastric acid. It is primarily prescribed for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and the prevention of ulcers caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Vonoprazan works by blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining, which decreases acid secretion more quickly and consistently than some traditional acid-suppressing medications. This helps relieve heartburn, promote healing of the esophagus, and prevent acid-related complications.

The medication is typically taken once daily, usually before a meal, and should be used exactly as prescribed. Consistent daily use and adherence to your healthcare provider’s instructions are important to achieve optimal relief and prevent recurrence of symptoms.

This medicine is may indicated by your doctor for:

• Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and associated heartburn.

• Healing and maintenance of erosive esophagitis.

• Prevention of gastric or duodenal ulcers caused by NSAIDs.

• Management of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders as directed by a physician.

• Fast-Acting Relief: Achieves rapid acid suppression starting from the very first dose.

• Take this medicine with or without food.

• Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

• If you are taking this medication as part of a treatment course for H. pylori infection, complete the full course of therapy as directed, even if your symptoms disappear.

• If you are treated for erosive esophagitis, a typical course of treatment lasts up to 8 weeks.

Vonoprazan works by blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining that produce acid. It competes with potassium ions to bind to the H+, K+-ATPase enzyme, stopping the final step of acid secretion. Because it does not require an acidic environment to be activated, it works more quickly and creates a long-lasting barrier against stomach acid.

• Unlike some older acid medications that must be taken 30 to 60 minutes before a meal, vonoprazan can be taken at any time, regardless of when you eat.

• If you are taking this for an infection (H. pylori), taking all your antibiotic doses exactly as scheduled is the best way to ensure the infection is completely cured.

• Long-term use of acid blockers can make it harder for your body to absorb certain nutrients, such as Vitamin B12 and magnesium. Talk to your doctor if you are on extended therapy.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

• Food: No clinically significant interactions have been observed. It can be taken with or without food.

Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any you start or stop using, especially:

• Medications whose absorption depends on stomach acid (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, or atazanavir).

• Mycophenolate mofetil.

• Digoxin.

This medicine should be used with caution, or avoided, if you have:

• Severe kidney disease

• Moderate to severe liver disease

• A history of osteoporosis or bone fractures

Your dose will be determined by your doctor based on the condition being treated. The standard dose for treating erosive esophagitis is typically 20 mg once daily. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line immediately if an overdose is suspected.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose.
