Sinorin Plus Tablet

Sinorin Plus Tablet is a prescription combination medicine containing three active ingredients, Levocetirizine, Paracetamol (Acetaminophen), and Phenylephrine. Levocetirizine is an antihistamine that relieves allergy symptoms such as sneezing, a runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes. Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic that helps reduce fever and relieve mild to moderate pain. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant that reduces nasal congestion by narrowing blood vessels in the nasal passages. Together, they provide effective relief from symptoms of the common cold, flu, and allergic rhinitis.

Sinorin Plus Tablet combines three medicines that work together to relieve symptoms of the common cold and allergic conditions.

Levocetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors, helping reduce sneezing, runny nose, nasal itching, and watery eyes. It causes less drowsiness compared to older antihistamines, making it suitable for daytime use. Paracetamol acts as an analgesic and antipyretic, helping to relieve headache and body aches and reduce fever, which are commonly associated with cold and flu. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant that works by constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages, thereby reducing nasal congestion and sinus pressure, and improving breathing comfort.

This combination provides short-term relief from cold and allergy symptoms and should be used as advised by a healthcare professional. Caution is needed in patients with high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid disorders, or those taking other decongestants. Do not take more than the recommended dose of Paracetamol, as overuse may cause serious liver damage, and do not take other paracetamol-containing medicines simultaneously.

• Marked increase in blood pressure or palpitations (related to Phenylephrine)

This medicine is usually available as tablets, and also in liquid (syrup/oral suspension) form for children or those who have difficulty swallowing tablets.

• Timing: Usually taken every 6 to 8 hours as needed; do not exceed 3 doses in 24 hours.

• Method: Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. For liquid form, measure the dose accurately using a dosing cup or spoon. Do not crush or chew tablets.

• With Food: Can be taken with or without food; taking it with food may reduce stomach upset.
• Hydration: Drink plenty of water to help relieve congestion and support overall recovery.

Levocetirizine: A selective H1-antihistamine that blocks peripheral histamine H1 receptors, preventing histamine-mediated effects such as vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, and sensory nerve stimulation, thereby reducing sneezing, itching, rhinorrhea, and watery eyes. Paracetamol (Acetaminophen): Acts centrally by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, leading to reduced prostaglandin synthesis in the brain. This results in antipyretic (via action on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center) and analgesic effects, relieving fever and mild to moderate pain. Phenylephrine: A selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that causes vasoconstriction of blood vessels in the nasal mucosa. This reduces mucosal edema and nasal congestion, improving airflow. Overall Effect: The combination works through complementary mechanisms including antihistaminic, central analgesic and antipyretic, and vasoconstrictive actions. It provides comprehensive relief from allergy and cold symptoms.

• Do not exceed the recommended dose, as it may increase the risk of side effects, especially liver damage due to Paracetamol.

• Supportive care such as warm fluids and steam inhalation may help relieve congestion and improve comfort.

• Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking before starting treatment.

• Avoid taking other antihistamines or paracetamol-containing medicines at the same time unless advised by your doctor.

• Food (Generally Safe): Sinorin Plus Tablet can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may help reduce stomach upset.

• Alcohol: Avoid alcohol, as it may increase drowsiness from Levocetirizine and also raise the risk of liver damage due to Paracetamol.

• Caffeine (e.g., coffee, tea): Caffeine may slightly reduce drowsiness in some individuals, but it does not affect the effectiveness of the medicine.

• Other Sedatives or Antihistamines (Moderate): Concurrent use may increase drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired coordination due to additive central nervous system effects. Use with caution.

• Antihypertensive Medicines (Moderate): Phenylephrine may reduce the effectiveness of blood pressure–lowering medicines and can increase blood pressure. Monitor regularly and consult your doctor.

• Other Paracetamol-Containing Medicines (Severe): Avoid using with other products containing Paracetamol, as it may lead to overdose and serious liver damage.

• Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) (Severe): Concomitant use with Phenylephrine may cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure. Avoid use within 14 days of MAOI therapy.

• Hypertension / Heart Disease (Moderate–Severe): Phenylephrine may increase blood pressure and heart rate. Use with caution in patients with hypertension, coronary artery disease, or other cardiac conditions.

• Hepatic Impairment (Moderate): Paracetamol is metabolized in the liver. Use cautiously in liver disease, as excessive doses may increase the risk of liver toxicity.

• Kidney Disease (Moderate): Dose adjustment may be required in patients with impaired kidney function, particularly due to Levocetirizine. Consult your doctor.

• Thyroid Disorders / Diabetes (Caution): Phenylephrine may worsen symptoms in patients with hyperthyroidism and should be used carefully in diabetes due to possible effects on blood sugar and heart rate.

Since Sinorin Plus Tablet is typically taken as prescribed by a doctor, a missed dose is usually not critical. If taken on a schedule, take the missed dose as soon as you remember, unless the next dose is due within 2 hours, then you can skip it. Never double the dose.
