• Diuretics and Blood Pressure Medicines: Mefenamic Acid can reduce the effectiveness of blood pressure-lowering medications and diuretics (water tablets). The combination of an NSAID with ACE Inhibitors and Diuretics can severely increase the risk of acute kidney injury.

• Corticosteroids: Taking oral steroids (e.g., Prednisolone) with Mefenamic Acid significantly increases the risk of gastrointestinal ulceration and bleeding.

M Plus Suspension is contraindicated or requires careful monitoring in patients with the following existing health conditions:

• Severe Kidney Impairment (Renal Dysfunction): NSAIDs can impair blood flow to the kidneys, potentially worsening pre-existing kidney conditions. A dose reduction or alternative therapy is often required, and kidney function must be closely monitored.

• Asthma/Aspirin Sensitivity: Patients who have a history of asthma, nasal polyps, or hives triggered by aspirin or other NSAIDs should avoid this medicine due to the risk of severe, life-threatening allergic reactions (bronchospasm).

Heart Failure: NSAIDs can cause the body to retain fluid and salt, which can worsen the symptoms of severe, uncontrolled heart failure.

The standard recommended dosage of M Plus Suspension (Mefenamic Acid + Paracetamol) suspension is highly individualised, particularly for children, based on body weight and age. Typically, the suspension is prescribed as a certain volume (e.g., 5 mL to 10 mL) to be taken two to three times daily, or as required to control pain and fever. If a dose of M Plus Suspension is missed, give or take the dose as soon as you remember, unless it is very close to the time for the next scheduled dose.
