Lopachem 2mg Tablet 10s is an antidiarrheal medication used to control and relieve the symptoms of acute, non-specific diarrhea. It is also used to manage chronic diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel disease. This medicine works by slowing down the rhythm of the digestive system, allowing the intestines more time to absorb fluids and salts, which results in firmer stools and less frequent bowel movements.
Lopachem 2mg Tablet 10s is indicated for the control and symptomatic relief of acute non-specific diarrhea and chronic diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel disease. It is also used to reduce the volume of discharge from ileostomies.
Loperamide mainly acts in the gut and usually does not affect the brain or cause typical opioid effects when taken as directed. It is meant to treat the symptoms of diarrhea, not the underlying cause, so staying hydrated and addressing the reason for diarrhea is still important.

Take Lopachem 2mg Tablet 10s exactly as prescribed by your doctor or according to the package directions. Do not take more than the recommended amount.
Consuming alcohol while taking this medicine can increase the risk of drowsiness and dizziness.
It is not known whether loperamide will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.
Small amounts of loperamide may pass into breast milk. Ask your doctor about any risks to the baby.
This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Do not drive until you know how this medicine affects you.
Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, as decreased first-pass metabolism may increase the risk of central nervous system toxicity.

Your dose will be determined by your doctor or the instructions on the package based on your age and the severity of the diarrhea. Do not exceed 8mg per day for over-the-counter use, or 16mg per day if under a doctor's supervision.
Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line immediately. Symptoms of a loperamide overdose may include severe constipation, stomach pain or bloating, a slow or irregular heartbeat, or feeling very drowsy with slow, shallow breathing.
If you are taking loperamide on a schedule and miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose to catch up.
