Lexanox 50mg Otal Paste 5gm is an anti-inflammatory and antiallergic medication used for the treatment of recurrent aphthous ulcers (canker sores). It is commonly available as a topical oral paste applied directly to the affected area inside the mouth. This medicine may help reduce pain, inflammation, and irritation, while supporting the natural healing process of oral ulcers.
Lexanox 50mg Otal Paste 5gm is used for the treatment of recurrent aphthous ulcers (canker sores) in the mouth. It is most commonly available as a topical oral paste, which is applied directly to the affected area.
Amlexanox belongs to a class of anti-inflammatory and antiallergic agents. When applied locally, it may work by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators, such as histamine and leukotrienes, from immune cells in the affected tissue. These mediators are known to contribute to pain, redness, and swelling associated with oral ulcers.
By reducing this localized inflammatory response, Lexanox 50mg Otal Paste 5gm may help relieve discomfort, decrease swelling, and support the natural healing process of the ulcer. The paste formulation also forms a protective barrier over the sore, which may help shield it from irritation caused by food, drink, or contact within the mouth.
Lexanox 50mg Otal Paste 5gm is intended for local use inside the mouth and should be applied as directed by a healthcare professional. It is not intended for systemic treatment of inflammatory conditions in this formulation. Regular and proper application may help improve symptom relief and shorten the duration of ulcer healing.

Lexanox 50mg Otal Paste 5gm may cause side effects in some people. These are usually mild and limited to the site of application, but you should contact your doctor if they persist or worsen.
Apply Lexanox 50mg Otal Paste 5gm exactly as prescribed by your doctor or as advised by package instructions.
1. Wash your hands thoroughly before application.
2. Gently dry the ulcer by patting it with a soft, clean cloth.
3. Squeeze a small dab of paste (about 1/4 inch or 0.5 cm) onto the tip of a clean finger or a cotton swab.
4. Using gentle pressure, dab the paste directly onto each ulcer in the mouth. Do not rub it in.
5. Wash your hands immediately after application.
Amlexanox works by preventing mast cells and other immune cells in the mouth from releasing inflammatory chemicals like histamine. By blocking these messengers, it halts the cycle of swelling and pain. Its adhesive base clings to the moist mucosal tissue, keeping the active medicine in direct contact with the sore while shielding it from outside irritants.
No interaction. Alcohol does not directly interact with this localized paste, but consuming alcohol can irritate active mouth ulcers.
Consult your doctor. There are no adequate studies on pregnant women. Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by your physician.
Consult your doctor. Components are known to pass into breast milk. Use with caution and strictly follow your doctor's advice.
This medicine does not cause drowsiness.
Because very little is absorbed into the bloodstream, it is generally safe, but consult your doctor if you have severe liver issues.
No specific dose adjustments are required for localized oral application.
Store at room temperature (ideally between 15°C and 30°C) away from direct heat and moisture. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children.
Because this medicine is applied locally and very little is absorbed into the bloodstream, it is highly unlikely to interact with other medications you take orally. However, let your doctor know if you are using other medicated oral gels or mouthwashes.
This medicine should be used with caution, or avoided, if you have:
Apply a pea-sized dab (approx. 1/4 inch) to each ulcer 4 times a day. Do not use more than directed.
Because it is applied topically, a typical overdose is highly unlikely.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled application, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not over-apply the paste to make up for a missed dose.
