Amlexanox belongs to a class of anti-inflammatory and antiallergic agents. When applied locally, it may work by inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators, such as histamine and leukotrienes, from immune cells in the affected tissue. These mediators are known to contribute to pain, redness, and swelling associated with oral ulcers.

By reducing this localized inflammatory response, Amlenox Oral Paste 5gm may help relieve discomfort, decrease swelling, and support the natural healing process of the ulcer. • When to Apply: Apply the paste as soon as possible after noticing the symptoms of a canker sore. Use it 4 times daily, ideally after oral hygiene following breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and right before bedtime.

• How to Apply:

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before application.

2. Gently dry the ulcer by patting it with a soft, clean cloth.

3. Squeeze a small dab of paste (about 1/4 inch or 0.5 cm) onto the tip of a clean finger or a cotton swab.

4. Using gentle pressure, dab the paste directly onto each ulcer in the mouth. Do not rub it in.

5. Wash your hands immediately after application.

• Avoid eating, drinking, or putting in dental appliances (like braces or dentures) for at least 30 to 60 minutes after application to give the paste time to adhere and work.

Amlexanox works by preventing mast cells and other immune cells in the mouth from releasing inflammatory chemicals like histamine. By blocking these messengers, it halts the cycle of swelling and pain. Its adhesive base clings to the moist mucosal tissue, keeping the active medicine in direct contact with the sore while shielding it from outside irritants.

• For the best results, start using this paste within the first 48 hours of feeling an ulcer coming on.

• Be very careful not to get the paste in your eyes. If contact occurs, rinse your eyes thoroughly with clean water immediately.

• Use a soft-bristled toothbrush while treating mouth ulcers to prevent accidentally irritating or scraping the sore further.

Store at room temperature (ideally between 15°C and 30°C) away from direct heat and moisture. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children.

• Food: Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 to 60 minutes after applying the paste so the protective layer does not wash away.

Because this medicine is applied locally and very little is absorbed into the bloodstream, it is highly unlikely to interact with other medications you take orally. However, let your doctor know if you are using other medicated oral gels or mouthwashes.

This medicine should be used with caution, or avoided, if you have:

• Compromised or weakened immune systems (efficiency is unproven)

Apply a pea-sized dab (approx. 1/4 inch) to each ulcer 4 times a day. Do not use more than directed.

Because it is applied topically, a typical overdose is highly unlikely.

Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled application, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not over-apply the paste to make up for a missed dose.
