Metformin is a biguanide which decreases the production and absorption of sugar in the body and allows better use of existing insulin. Together, they provide better reduction in cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart diseases in diabetic patients.

Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Fibmet 80 mg/500 mg Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
What if I forget to take it?
If a dose of Fibmet 80 mg/500 mg Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
