How can I give Elcef Syrup to my child?Follow your doctor's guidance regarding the dose and duration of this medication. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Elcef Syrup can be taken it with or without food, although it's advisable to take it consistently at the same time.
How Elcef Syrup works Elcef Syrup is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Elcef Syrup should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Elcef Syrup may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.
Elcef Syrup is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Elcef Syrup is recommended.However, consult with your child�s doctor before giving Elcef Syrup to your child in case of a severe form of liver disease.
Remain calm. Unless your child�s doctor has provided specific instructions, administer the missed dose once recalled. If it's nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed one. Adhere to the prescribed dosing schedule and avoid administering a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
