• Ebastine is a second-generation, long-acting histamine H1-receptor antagonist. After administration, it undergoes extensive metabolism to its active metabolite, carebastine. It binds selectively to peripheral H1 receptors, preventing histamine from triggering localized inflammation, fluid drainage, sneezing, and itching. Because it does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier at recommended doses, it has a low potential for causing sedation.

• Phenylephrine is a potent decongestant and a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist. It acts directly on the alpha-adrenergic receptors present on the smooth muscle of the vascular system. • This medication can be taken with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food or milk.
