Treatment of Depression

In Treatment of Depression Aldep H Tablet works by affecting the balance of certain chemicals (such as serotonin) in the brain. It helps improve mood and feelings of wellbeing, relieve anxiety and tension, helps you sleep better, and increase your energy level. It is an effective antidepressant but may cause drowsiness. You need to take it regularly as it is prescribed for it to be most effective and should not stop taking it suddenly.

The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Aldep H Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Amitriptyline and Chlordiazepoxide, which treats depression. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant which increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Alcohol

Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Aldep H Tablet as it is deemed unsafe.

Pregnancy

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Aldep H Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Doctor consultation is advised.

Breast feeding

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Aldep H Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving

Not Safe: Aldep H Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. As Aldep H Tablet may make you feel drowsy or affect your concentration and this may affect your ability to drive.

Kidney

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Aldep H Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Aldep H Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Doctor consultation is advised.

Liver

Caution Advised: Aldep H Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Aldep H Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.

If a dose of Aldep H Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

Try to keep your regular appointments with your doctor. This is so your doctor can check on your progress. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other antidepressants. If you have diabetes, you will be asked to monitor your blood glucose level regularly as Aldep H Tablet may affect the levels of sugar in your blood.
