How Dapagliflozin, Metformin, and Sitagliptin Work Dapagliflozin, Metformin, and Sitagliptin is a combination of three antidiabetic medications. Dapagliflozin increases urinary glucose excretion and lowers blood glucose levels. Metformin reduces the amount of glucose absorbed from food and decreases the glucose produced by the liver. Additionally, Metformin enhances the body's response to insulin, a natural hormone that regulates blood glucose levels. Sitagliptin helps manage blood sugar levels by increasing the levels of incretins in the body, which prompts the pancreas to release more insulin.
