Uses

Sparfloxacin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also effective for infections of the urinary tract, tonsils, sinuses, nose, throat, female genital organs, skin and soft tissues, and lungs (pneumonia).

How it Works

How Sparfloxacin Works Sparfloxacin is an antibiotic that functions by inhibiting the action of a bacterial enzyme known as DNA-gyrase. This action prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, ultimately leading to their death.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Sparfloxacin include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, rash, dryness in the mouth, abdominal pain, flatulence, itching, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), photosensitivity, dyspepsia, taste changes, prolonged QTc interval, vasodilation, vaginal moniliasis, weakness, and sleepiness.
