How Sparfloxacin and Dexamethasone work Sparfloxacin and Dexamethasone is a combination of two medicines: Sparfloxacin and Dexamethasone. Sparfloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria in the eye or ear by preventing bacterial cells from dividing and repairing. Dexamethasone is a steroid that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause redness, swelling, and itching in the eye or ear.

Common side effects of Sparfloxacin and Dexamethasone include application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, and redness.

  • Your doctor has prescribed Sparfloxacin + Dexamethasone to treat your infection and alleviate symptoms.
  • Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you start to feel better.
