How Metformin and Voglibose Work Metformin and Voglibose is a combination of two antidiabetic medications.

How it Works

Common side effects of Metformin and Voglibose include flatulence, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and decreased appetite.

Expert Advice

  • Take it with food to reduce the risk of an upset stomach.
  • It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medications, alcohol, or if you delay or miss a meal.
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms, such as:
    • Cold sweats
    • Cool, pale skin
    • Tremors
    • Anxiety
  • Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly while taking this medication.
  • Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
    • Deep or rapid breathing
    • Persistent nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Stomach pain
  • Metformin + Voglibose may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.
