Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Rifampicin are used in the treatment of tuberculosis.

How it Works

How Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Rifampicin Work Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Rifampicin is a combination of three medications used to treat tuberculosis. Isoniazid prevents the TB bacteria from forming their protective covering, while Rifampicin inactivates a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) that is essential for the bacteria to produce proteins and reproduce. Together, these two medications kill the bacteria and eliminate the infection. Pyrazinamide, on the other hand, slows the growth of these bacteria.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Isoniazid, Pyrazinamide, and Rifampicin include nausea, vomiting, peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness in the hands and feet), abdominal pain, skin rash, hepatitis (viral infection of the liver), lethargy, low blood platelets, thrombocytopenic purpura, and cutaneous reactions.

Isoniazid + Pyrazinamide + Rifampicin should be taken on an empty stomach at the same time every day.
Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better.
