Ciclesonide is used in the treatment of allergic conditions and asthma.

How it Works

How Ciclesonide works: Ciclesonide is a steroid that functions by inhibiting the production of specific chemical messengers in the body that lead to inflammation (redness and swelling) and allergic reactions.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Ciclesonide include joint pain, headache, nasal congestion, nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the throat and nasal passages), sinus inflammation, pharyngolaryngeal pain, upper respiratory tract infection, pain in extremities, back pain, nasal discomfort, and nosebleeds.

  • Ciclesonide 'dampens down' inflammation in the lungs to provide long-term (maintenance) treatment of asthma and prevent disease progression.
  • Ciclesonide will not work for an ongoing asthma attack. Use your rescue inhaler to control sudden difficulty in breathing.
  • Learn the correct technique for using metered dose inhalers (MDI) and dry powder inhalers (DPI) to ensure that the right amount of medication reaches your lungs, minimizing side effects.
  • Gargle with warm water after each inhalation to prevent fungal infections in your mouth and throat.
  • Take Ciclesonide at the same time every day to help prevent asthma attacks.
  • Avoid opening and closing the cover unnecessarily, as this may result in loss of medication.
  • Never breathe out into the mouthpiece.
  • Only minuscule amounts of Ciclesonide may be absorbed into the bloodstream after inhalation; therefore, serious side effects such as weight gain are unlikely.
