How it Works

How Bromhexine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Ephedrine Work Bromhexine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Ephedrine is a combination of three medications. Bromhexine is a mucolytic agent that thins and loosens mucus in the nose, windpipe, and lungs, making it easier to cough up. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic medication. When the body is exposed to an allergen (such as pollen, animal dander, or house dust), it produces a chemical called histamine, which leads to symptoms like watery eyes, a runny or blocked nose, sneezing, skin rashes, and itching. Chlorpheniramine Maleate works by blocking the action of histamine, thereby alleviating these allergy symptoms. Ephedrine is a sympathomimetic agent that acts as a bronchodilator and decongestant. It compresses blood vessels to keep the airway passages (trachea, bronchus, and bronchioles) clear, facilitating easier breathing. This combination effectively treats cough symptoms.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Bromhexine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, and Ephedrine include sleepiness, impaired coordination, dizziness, headache, blurred vision, nausea, dryness in the mouth, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), tremors, and high blood pressure.
