Uses
Brinzolamide is used in the treatment of glaucoma.
How it Works
How Brinzolamide Works: Brinzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It functions by reducing the production of aqueous humor (the fluid in the eye), thereby lowering elevated intraocular pressure.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Brinzolamide include foreign body sensation in the eyes, blurred vision, ocular hyperemia, and changes in taste.
Expert Advice
- Brinzolamide helps lower elevated intraocular pressure and reduce the risk of vision loss.
- For optimal results, administer one drop 2-3 times daily in the affected eye(s).
- Apply gentle pressure on the inner corner of the eye (near the nose) for approximately 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop to minimize the risk of side effects.
- Avoid touching the tip of the dropper to any surface or your eye to prevent contamination of the eye drops.
- Remove contact lenses prior to using Brinzolamide, and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
- When applying multiple eye medications, wait at least 5-15 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to prevent dilution of the medicine.
