How Ciprofloxacin + Betamethasone works Ciprofloxacin + Betamethasone is a combination of two medicines: Ciprofloxacin and Betamethasone. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and repairing themselves. Betamethasone is a steroid medicine that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) responsible for making the eye red, swollen, and itchy.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Ciprofloxacin and Betamethasone include eye irritation, eye discomfort, irritation of the ear, and ear discomfort.
Expert Advice
- Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better.
- Stopping treatment early may cause the infection to return and become harder to treat.
- Avoid touching the tip to any surface to prevent contamination.
- Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next dose to avoid dilution.
- Short-term blurring of vision may occur when first using the medication.
- Exercise caution when driving or operating machinery.
- Do not wear contact lenses until the infection has completely cleared.
- Do not use the medication more frequently or for a longer duration than prescribed by your doctor.
- Inform your doctor if your condition has not improved after seven days of treatment.
