In Treatment of Hypertension (high blood pressure) Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines namely telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide. It is generally used when one medicine alone is not controlling your blood pressure effectively. Telmisartan works by relaxing and widening your blood vessels so your blood can flow more easily. This will lower your blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is known as a diuretic (water pill) which increases urine output thereby lowering blood pressure. If your blood pressure is controlled you are less at risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or kidney problems. The medicine must be taken regularly as prescribed to be effective. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well.
Side Effects
The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Doctor consultation is advised if they persist or if you're worried about them.
How to use
Follow your doctor's guidance regarding the dose and duration of this medication. Ingest it without breaking or crushing. Do not chew, crush or break it. Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet can be taken it with or without food, although it's advisable to take it consistently at the same time.
How it works
Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide which lowers the blood pressure effectively. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin, thereby relaxing the blood vessels. This allows the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
Consult your Doctor: Please consult your doctor regarding the safety of consuming alcohol with Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet . Experts have not found evidence of alcohol impairing the effectiveness of the medicine.
Seek medical advice from your doctor: Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Doctor consultation is advised.
Seek medical advice from your doctor: Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Not Safe: Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Caution Advised: Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Caution Advised: Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.
What if I forget to take it?
If a dose of Telsart H 40mg/12.5mg Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
