How it works
Glimtaz Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Pioglitazone and glimepiride. Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione which works by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.
Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Glimtaz Tablet as it is deemed unsafe.
Seek medical advice from your doctor: Glimtaz Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Doctor consultation is advised.
Safe when prescribed by an expert: Glimtaz Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Monitoring of the breastfed infant's blood glucose is advisable during maternal therapy with Glimtaz Tablet
Caution Advised: Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Caution Advised: Glimtaz Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Glimtaz Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Glimtaz Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. These patients can experience very low blood sugar levels which may become normal after a long time.
Caution Advised: Glimtaz Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Glimtaz Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Glimtaz Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. These patients can experience very low blood sugar levels which may become normal after a long time.
