It slows down your heart rate and helps the heart beat with less force. Lowering the amount of cholesterol reduces the chances of heart diseases and managing the blood pressure reduces the risk of having a stroke, heart attack or kidney problems in future. This helps you remain healthier for longer. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. Take it regularly and make appropriate lifestyle changes (such as eating healthy and staying active) to maximize the effectiveness of this medicine. Keep taking it even if you feel well.

Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER is a combination of two medicines: Metoprolol Succinate and Atorvastatin which treat high blood pressure and cholesterol. Metoprolol Succinate is a beta blocker that works specifically on the heart. It slows down the heart rate and relaxes blood vessels to improve blood flow. Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering medication which works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-Co A-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL). Together they reduce the risk of heart diseases.
Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER as it is deemed unsafe.
Not Safe: Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.
Seek medical advice from your doctor: Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Not Safe: Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Safe when prescribed by an expert: Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER is recommended. However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Caution Advised: Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
If a dose of Birtrex AM 50mg/5mg Tablet ER is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
