It blocks the action of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for inflammation, congestion, itching, and other allergic reactions. Ammonium chloride is an expectorant which decreases the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways. Terpin Hydrate works by decreasing the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Menthol produces a cooling effect on the skin.
