Palmiges Capsule 10s

Palmiges Capsule 10s is a nutritional supplement that brings together three natural compounds. Daidzein and genistein are soy isoflavones, plant substances from soybeans that act a little like the body's own estrogen hormone. Palmitoylethanolamide, usually shortened to PEA, is a fat-based molecule that the body already makes to help calm inflammation. PEA has been studied in women with long-lasting pelvic pain linked to endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the womb lining grows outside the womb. Genistein is being researched for hormone and metabolic problems in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common hormone condition that can cause irregular periods and trouble getting pregnant. Palmiges Capsule 10s is used alongside medical care, under a doctor's guidance.

More About Palmiges Capsule 10s

Detailed Description

Palmiges Capsule 10s combines two groups of ingredients that work in different ways.

The first group is the soy isoflavones, daidzein and genistein. These are the best known isoflavones found in soybeans. Their shape is similar to estradiol, the body's main estrogen, so they can attach to the same estrogen receptors (the "docking points" on cells that respond to estrogen). Genistein can act like a weak estrogen in some situations and block estrogen in others. Research reviews also describe genistein as calming inflammation and oxidative stress, which is a type of cell damage caused by unstable molecules.

The second ingredient is PEA. The body makes PEA "on demand" in most cells and tissues. It is also found in foods such as egg yolk, peas, beans, soy oil, peanut oil, tomatoes and milk. PEA works mainly by calming mast cells, which are immune cells that release inflammatory substances. Plain PEA is poorly absorbed, so supplements often use a micronized form, where the powder is ground into very fine particles to help the body take it in.

In small studies of women with endometriosis, PEA-based treatment lowered long-lasting pelvic pain, painful periods and pain during sex. It also improved quality of life, and women needed fewer painkillers. In a pooled analysis of women with chronic pelvic pain, more than half had a large drop in pain and more than 7 in 10 had some improvement after three months. Most of these studies had no comparison group and were of low quality, so the results need confirming in larger trials. These studies used PEA together with polydatin, another plant compound, not with soy isoflavones. Palmiges Capsule 10s as a combination has not been studied in clinical trials.

For genistein in PCOS, most of the evidence comes from laboratory and animal work. High-quality human data are still limited.

Because the soy isoflavones affect estrogen, Palmiges Capsule 10s is best used under a doctor's supervision. This matters most for anyone trying to get pregnant, anyone who is pregnant, and anyone with a thyroid condition or a history of hormone-sensitive breast cancer. If you have endometriosis, discuss the estrogen-like isoflavone content with your gynaecologist before starting.

Composition

  • Daidzein - a soy isoflavone (plant estrogen) found in soybeans
  • Genistein - a soy isoflavone (plant estrogen) found in soybeans
  • Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) - a natural fatty acid amide that the body makes, also found in foods such as egg yolk

The exact strength of each ingredient varies between brands. Check the pack label for the amounts in your product.

Uses of Palmiges Capsule 10s

  • Pelvic pain linked to endometriosis: PEA has been studied as an add-on to usual care for long-lasting pelvic pain, painful periods and pain during sex in women with endometriosis.
  • Chronic pelvic pain: In pooled patient data from mostly low-quality studies, more than half of women with chronic pelvic pain had a large drop in pain, and more than 7 in 10 had some improvement, with a formulation of PEA and polydatin.
  • Hormone and metabolic support in PCOS: Genistein is being researched for its effects on insulin sensitivity, reproductive hormones and inflammation in PCOS, mostly in laboratory and animal studies so far.

Benefits of Palmiges Capsule 10s

  1. Contains two kinds of ingredient: Soy isoflavones, which act on estrogen receptors, and PEA, which calms inflammation. There is no clinical evidence yet that the isoflavones add to PEA's effect on endometriosis pain.
  2. Studied for endometriosis-related pain: In small studies, PEA-based treatment reduced long-lasting pelvic pain, painful periods and pain during sex in women with endometriosis. These studies used PEA together with polydatin, another plant compound, not with soy isoflavones. Palmiges Capsule 10s as a combination has not been studied in clinical trials.
  3. Fewer painkillers in a pilot study: In a pilot study, women with endometriosis who took PEA with polydatin used fewer painkillers.
  4. Better day-to-day wellbeing: The same pilot study found improvements in quality of life and emotional wellbeing.
  5. Generally well tolerated: PEA was well tolerated in pelvic pain studies, and safety testing found no signs of toxicity or damage to genes.

Side Effects of Palmiges Capsule 10s

Common Side Effects (Usually Mild and may lessen with continued use)

  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea

These stomach-related effects are linked to soy products. PEA itself was well tolerated in studies of women with endometriosis, and no adverse events were seen in one pilot study.

Serious Side Effects (Seek Urgent Medical Attention)

  • Allergic reaction to soy: Some people are allergic to soy. Get emergency help for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, trouble breathing, wheezing, or a widespread itchy rash.
  • Very high blood pressure with certain antidepressants: People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) have had dangerously high blood pressure after eating soy products that are high in tyramine (a natural substance in some aged or fermented foods that can raise blood pressure). A sudden, severe headache, pounding heartbeat or chest pain needs urgent care.

Directions for Use

  • Take Palmiges Capsule 10s exactly as your doctor has advised, or as the product label directs if your doctor has not given other instructions.
  • Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with a glass of plain water. Do not crush, chew or break it unless the label says you can.
  • If your product is a sachet or powder, mix and take it as the label directs.
  • Take it at about the same time each day so it becomes part of your routine.
  • If you take it with food, try to take it with food every time. If you take it on an empty stomach, keep to that. This consistency matters most if it upsets your stomach.
  • PEA studies in pelvic pain lasted two to three months, so benefits, if any, may take time. Keep taking it for the full period your doctor has suggested, and do not stop or change the amount on your own.

How it works

Daidzein and genistein (soy isoflavones): These plant compounds have a structure similar to estradiol, the body's main estrogen. This lets them compete with estrogen for the same receptors on cells. Genistein behaves like a "selective estrogen receptor modulator", which means it can act like a weak estrogen in some tissues and block estrogen in others. At low amounts it tends to act like a weak estrogen. At very high amounts it may work against estrogen. Laboratory studies also show that genistein:

  • Blocks NF-kB, a switch inside cells that turns on inflammation
  • Switches on the Nrf2 pathway, the cell's own defence against oxidative stress
  • Helps cells take up sugar by activating a pathway called AMPK, which may improve insulin sensitivity

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA): PEA is made by the body when tissues are stressed or inflamed, and it helps bring inflammation back under control. It works in several ways:

  • Calms mast cells: Mast cells are immune cells that release substances causing pain and swelling. PEA reduces this release.
  • Activates PPAR-alpha: This is a receptor inside the cell nucleus that controls anti-inflammatory genes.
  • Acts on GPR55: PEA also switches on this receptor, which helps regulate inflammatory cells.
  • Supports the body's own pain-control system: Through the "entourage effect", PEA boosts the action of anandamide, a natural cannabis-like substance the body makes. This indirectly acts on CB2 receptors that help control inflammation.

Together, the soy isoflavones target hormone-related pathways and PEA targets inflammation and pain signalling.

Safety Advice for Palmiges Capsule 10s

icon
Pregnancy
Limited information

Soy taken in amounts greater than those found in foods may be unsafe during pregnancy. In animal studies, high doses of genistein and daidzein disturbed the womb lining's readiness to receive an embryo. If you are pregnant or trying to conceive, talk to your doctor before using Palmiges Capsule 10s.

icon
Breastfeeding
Limited information

Little is known about whether soy in amounts greater than those in foods is safe while breastfeeding. Ask your doctor before use.

icon
Alcohol
Limited information

In a study in healthy volunteers, a single dose of soy isoflavone extract did not change how alcohol was processed or how strongly it was felt. Keeping alcohol low is still sensible, and check with your doctor if you take other medicines.

icon
Driving
Limited information

Palmiges Capsule 10s is not known to cause drowsiness. If you feel dizzy or unwell after taking it, do not drive until you feel normal.

icon
Kidney
Limited information

Limited information is available for people with kidney disease. Tell your doctor about any kidney problem before starting.

icon
Liver
Limited information

Limited information is available for people with liver disease. Tell your doctor about any liver problem before starting.

icon
Children
Limited information

The pelvic pain studies of PEA were done in adult women. Do not give Palmiges Capsule 10s to children unless a doctor advises it.

icon
Elderly patients
Limited information

Older adults who take several medicines should check with their doctor for possible interactions before using Palmiges Capsule 10s.

icon
Allergy
Limited information

Some people are allergic to soy. Do not use Palmiges Capsule 10s if you have a soy allergy unless your doctor advises it.

Quick Tips for Palmiges Capsule 10s

  • Tell your doctor if you are allergic to soy, as Palmiges Capsule 10s contains soy isoflavones.
  • Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, especially antidepressants and any hormone therapy for breast cancer.
  • If you have a thyroid problem, ask your doctor whether your thyroid tests need checking while you take this supplement.
  • If you are planning a pregnancy, discuss the soy isoflavone content with your doctor first.
  • Keep a simple pain diary. It helps you and your doctor see whether the supplement is making a difference over the weeks.
  • Keep taking any other treatment your doctor has prescribed for endometriosis or PCOS. Palmiges Capsule 10s is used alongside that care, not in place of it.

Storage Advice

  • Store Palmiges Capsule 10s at the temperature printed on the pack, in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep it in its original pack to protect it from light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom or near a stove.
  • Keep it out of sight and reach of children and pets.
  • Do not use it after the expiry date on the pack.

Drug-Food Interaction

  • Tyramine-rich soy foods (tofu, soy sauce): These foods can be high in tyramine. For people on MAOI antidepressants, this combination has caused dangerously high blood pressure.
  • Soy foods in general: Palmiges Capsule 10s already contains soy isoflavones. Eating a lot of soy foods adds to your total intake. If you eat soy often, mention this to your doctor.
  • Alcohol: Soy isoflavone extract did not change the effects of alcohol in a study of healthy volunteers.

Interactions with Other Drugs

  • MAOI antidepressants: Soy products high in tyramine have caused dangerously high blood pressure in people taking these medicines. Tell your doctor before using Palmiges Capsule 10s if you take an MAOI.
  • Tamoxifen and other hormone treatments for breast cancer: In laboratory studies, genistein and daidzein encouraged the growth of estrogen-sensitive breast cancer cells at low concentrations. Studies in breast cancer survivors eating soy foods have not shown harm. Because the evidence for high-dose supplements is less clear, check with your cancer doctor before using Palmiges Capsule 10s.
  • Thyroid medicine (levothyroxine): The levothyroxine prescribing label says that soybean flour and soybean-based infant formula can reduce how well the body absorbs levothyroxine. Palmiges Capsule 10s contains soy isoflavones. If you take thyroid medicine, ask your doctor how to space it from Palmiges Capsule 10s, and whether your thyroid levels need checking.
  • Other medicines and herbal products: Some herbs and medicines interact in harmful ways. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about everything you take, including other supplements.

Drug-Disease Interactions

  • Soy allergy: Some people are allergic to soy. People with a known soy allergy should avoid Palmiges Capsule 10s.
  • Hormone-sensitive breast cancer (current or past): Genistein and daidzein act like weak estrogens. Researchers have raised concern that high-dose isoflavone supplements could affect estrogen-sensitive breast cancer. Talk to your cancer doctor first.
  • Thyroid problems: Taking phytoestrogen (plant estrogen) supplements may increase the risk that mild, early underactive thyroid (subclinical hypothyroidism) becomes full underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). Tell your doctor if you have a thyroid condition.
  • Trying to conceive or unexplained infertility: In animal studies, high doses of genistein and daidzein affected the womb lining. Researchers advise that people at risk of infertility pay attention to how much of these isoflavones they take.
  • Endometriosis: Genistein and daidzein have estrogen-like effects. If you have endometriosis, discuss the isoflavone content of Palmiges Capsule 10s with your gynaecologist before starting.

Daily Dose

  • Always take Palmiges Capsule 10s exactly as your doctor has advised. The amount of each ingredient differs from brand to brand, so follow the label of your product and your doctor's instructions.
  • Do not take more than the amount your doctor or the label recommends in 24 hours.
  • In research, soy extracts with concentrated isoflavones have been used safely for up to 6 months.
  • In a review of safety studies, micronized PEA at doses as high as 1200 mg per day did not cause adverse effects.
  • Do not change your dose or stop on your own. Speak to your doctor if you feel it is not helping.

Overdose

There is no specific information on overdose of Palmiges Capsule 10s. Taking more than recommended may increase the chance of side effects. In laboratory safety testing, PEA showed very low toxicity. If someone has taken much more than the recommended amount, or has signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face or trouble breathing, seek medical help straight away. Take the pack with you so the doctor knows what was taken.

What If You Forget to take Palmiges Capsule 10s?

If you miss a dose of Palmiges Capsule 10s, take it when you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and carry on as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
