Cucyp-T Syrup is a triple combination medicine used to help improve appetite, support healthy weight gain associated with poor eating habits and liver-related digestive issues. It contains Cyproheptadine, an antihistamine with appetite-stimulating properties that helps increase hunger and food intake. Sorbitol helps promote bowel movement and relieve mild constipation. Tricholine Citrate supports liver function, aids fat metabolism. Together, these ingredients help enhance appetite, support digestion, and improve overall nutritional intake and gastrointestinal comfort.
Composition and Mechanism: Cyproheptadine helps stimulate appetite by acting on brain chemicals that regulate hunger, which may increase food intake and support weight gain. Sorbitol acts as an osmotic laxative, drawing water into the intestines to help soften stools and promote easier bowel movements. Tricholine Citrate acts as a choleretic agent that helps improve bile flow and supports the liver in fat metabolism, which may help improve appetite and digestive function.
Major Therapeutic Uses: Cucyp-T Syrup is used to increase appetite, support healthy weight gain, and promote liver function in people with undernutrition, low body weight, poor appetite, or certain liver and digestive disorders. This combination may also be prescribed for underweight children, patients recovering from chronic illness, or individuals receiving anti-tubercular or antiretroviral therapy who need support with appetite and weight restoration.
Precautions and Medical Supervision: Effects on appetite may be noticed within a few days, while healthy weight gain usually develops gradually with regular use along with proper nutrition. Extra caution is advised in patients with liver disease, glaucoma, enlarged prostate, or urinary problems, as Cyproheptadine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or difficulty in urination in some individuals. Use under medical supervision is especially important in children, elderly patients, and people with chronic medical conditions.
Cucyp-T Syrup is typically indicated by a doctor for:
To help increase hunger and support healthy weight gain in people with reduced appetite, undernutrition, or low body weight.
To stimulate appetite and support proper nutritional intake in children with inadequate eating habits or growth-related nutritional concerns.
To support liver function and bile flow in people experiencing poor appetite or digestive discomfort associated with liver or hepatobiliary conditions.
To help improve appetite and maintain body weight in patients receiving anti-tubercular or antiretroviral therapy, where reduced appetite and weight loss may occur.
When taken as directed, Cucyp-T Syrup is generally well tolerated. Side effects, if they occur, are usually mild and temporary.
Drowsiness or sleepiness
Cyproheptadine works by blocking histamine and serotonin receptors in the brain, particularly those involved in appetite regulation, which helps reduce satiety signals (feeling full after eating) and stimulates hunger. Sorbitol acts as an osmotic agent that attracts water into the intestines, helping soften stools, promote bowel movement, and support intestinal clearance. Tricholine Citrate works by promoting the production and flow of bile from the liver and gallbladder into the intestine. Bile helps break down and digest dietary fats, making fat absorption and metabolism more efficient. It also supports the liver in processing fats and reducing excess fat accumulation, which may help maintain healthy liver function and improve digestive efficiency.
Together, these ingredients act through complementary mechanisms to support appetite, bowel regularity, liver function, and nutrient metabolism.
Overdose of Cucyp-T Syrup may increase the risk of side effects such as excessive drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, dry mouth, nausea. In some cases, especially in children, it may cause excessive excitement, irritability, or unusual behavior. Large amounts of Sorbitol may lead to diarrhoea, dehydration, or stomach cramps. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected or if unusual symptoms occur.
If you miss a dose of Cucyp-T Syrup, take it as soon as you remember, but skip the missed dose if it is nearly time for the next dose, and do not take a double dose to make up for it.
